Abstract

Previous research suggests illness perceptions impact psychological functioning. This study identified and characterized illness perception schemas among patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Two schemas were identified, which differed on perceptions of consequences, identity, emotional concern, and emotional responses. The more negative schema exhibited higher depression, anxiety, negative mood, and stress.
