Abstract

We examined the impact of the emotional arousal dimension of odors on time perception. Findings revealed that smelling a relaxing odor led participants to underestimate auditory durations compared to odorless conditions. Eventually, results indicated that time perception was modulated by arousal properties of odors but also influenced by participants’ expectations.
