Abstract

Two studies examined individuals’ beliefs about different types of intelligence. Study 1 recreated Dweck’s (2000) mindset questionnaire and found that people hold fixed-beliefs about fluid intelligence (FI) and growth-beliefs about crystallized intelligence (CI). Study 2 used a switched-at-birth paradigm and found individuals hold more essentialist beliefs about FI than CI.
