Abstract

The role of speech-accompanying gestures in autobiographical event representation was explored. Even though overall gesture frequency did not differ across event narration conditions, iconic gestures were more prevalent in the autobiographical past event and non-autobiographical event conditions. Participants produced beat type gestures more frequently in the future autobiographical event condition.
