Predicting Willingness to Fight: Interplay of Identity Fusion and Sacred Values in Northern Ireland

Two survey studies (total N = 833) among Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland suggest that conflict-specific sacred values - in conjunction with identity fusion either with a group of like-minded friends or with the community at large - are crucial for motivating violence in defense of the community.
