Abstract

We investigated the role of challenge/threat appraisals in Stereotype Threat effect. As expected, participants who endorse stereotype perceived the task more as a threat and less as a challenge than those who do not endorse it. Moreover, appraisals mediated the stereotype threat effect on performance.
