Abstract

This study investigates the effect of anticipated physical walking effort on spatial memory. A virtual reality protocol was used to compare upward and downward slanted routes while maintaining physical effort constant. Results show that upward routes are more difficult to learn and lead to more distorsions in the spatial representation.
