Abstract

Employing two large-scale, cross-sectional datasets (N = 1 036 057), we examined the context-specificity of the association between obesity and relationship-status: Overall, obese individuals are less likely to be in a relationship. Crucially, this effect is stronger in regions with lower obesity rates and merely existent for high obesity rates.
