Abstract

We examined the evolution of solution times for tie problems in 6 year-old-children and observed that it perfectly follows the predictions of a model assuming a shift from counting to retrieval. Non-tie problems presented a different evolution, better explained by a counting model assuming an acceleration of procedures during development.
