Abstract
This study which included sixty-three college-age students examined executive costs associated with tasks of variable complexity and interrelationships between costs, information processing efficiency and stress/tension. Executive costs and processing speed/accuracy predicted cognitive performance and were differentially affected by stress/tension. Future work should include brain imaging to delineate underlying mechanisms.
