Age Predicts Lower Tactical, Positional, and End-Game Chess Performance at Lower Chess Skill Levels

Abstract

We evaluated the association of skill and age with performance in three tasks involving chess-thinking strategies: tactical, positional, and end-game. In accordance with the age is kinder to the more able, age predicted negatively the three tasks at low and medium skill levels only, not at the highest skill level.
