Abstract

During sequential sampling of items, people perform implicit pairwise comparisons between newly encountered option and their previously favorite. The winner gains a bonus in value and move on to next steps of comparisons. This bonus-by-competition mechanism has proven to be valid through a Bayesian model selection process.
