Abstract

ZhuYinFuHao is the phonetic system for sounding out Chinese character. This study observed that the identification of ZhuYinFuHao in preliterate children predict subsequent Chinese character acquisition, when nonverbal ability, receptive vocabulary, phonological awareness and rapid automated naming measured in kindergarten were controlled.
