Effect of Social Skills on Depression and Anxiety Mediated By Loneliness in College Students

Abstract

We sought to explore the role of loneliness as a mediator for college students’ social skills and their experiences with depression and anxiety. Significant mediating effects of loneliness were found in our sample (N = 2,054). Implications for improving student social skills as a point of intervention are discussed.
