Abstract

Pain is severely underestimated and undertreated by healthcare professionals. This study examined the role of psychopathic traits in the perception and treatment of patients experiencing pain. Psychopathic traits were related to a decreased ability to accurately detect pain, as well as a decreased willingness to help others in pain.
