Abstract
Data from the Minnesota Longitudinal Study of Risk and Adaptation (N = 267) is used to test whether birth weight and gestational age prospectively predict cognitive and social functioning from childhood to early adulthood. Birth weight predicted early cognitive functioning, but these associations did not endure across development.
