The Consequences of Economic Inequality in the Perception of Society: Masculinity-Femininity, and Social Class

Abstract
In two experimental studies, we show economic inequality influences the perception of others: when inequality is high, we perceive an average inhabitant as more masculine than feminine. We also show the upper social class is perceived as more masculine than feminine; this difference is greater in the higher inequality condition.
