Abstract

In two studies (N=120 & N = 305) we investigated the impact of a control deprivation experience on the strength of intentional binding. We found that control deprivation leads to a decrease of the intentional binding effect, suggesting that exposure to uncontrollability has a detrimental effect on implicit self-agency.
