Autobiographical Memories Evoke Empathy, but Individual Differences Also Matter

Abstract

The findings highlight that vicarious autobiographical memories serve as mediators in the model predicting the level of empathy. As a practical outcome of our study we proposed that guided activating of vicarious component of autobiographical memory would increase the opportunity to experience empathy.
