Romantic Partners Imitate Their Goal Engagement and Goal Disengagement Processes (If Their Partner Was Praised)

Three studies of romantic couples showed that observed goal engagement and goal disengagement processes of the partner were imitated in the same task and transferred to another task. Moreover, praising the model's goal regulation processes was particularly relevant for the imitation of goal disengagement processes.
