Abstract

The effect of anxious arousal on salience and central executive network connectivity was investigated during working memory performance. Anxious arousal enhanced behavioral performance but was also associated with increased salience connectivity. Results highlight that the facilitating effects of arousal may come at the cost of network compensation.
