Abstract

Our study examined the roles that gender identity and sexual orientation play on facial recognition. We found that female participants showed higher recognition rates for gender non-conforming faces, while heterosexual male participants exhibited better recognition for female faces. LGBTQ+ participants, however, made more false memory errors for gender non-conforming faces.
