Affective Judgment in Spatial Context: A Simulation with Artificial Neural Networks

Abstract

Locations that are emotionally salient—„hotspots“ like an unsafe housing block—elicit affective assimilation in the close surroundings and contrast farther away. Empirically validated simulations with parallel constraint satisfaction neural networks show how an overall affective picture of an area emerges from the interactive effect of a multitude of such hotspots.
