Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of personal experience with people with mental illness and empathy on attitudes toward people with mental illness in university students. Personal experience and empathy predicted Social Restrictiveness, Benevolence, and Community mental health ideology, while Authoritarianism, was predicted only by empathy.
