Correspondence and Misattribution in the Truth Effect: Moderating Effects of Attention Division and Source Credibility Manipulation

Abstract

Repeated statements were judged true more often than new ones. Attention division and source credibility moderated this effect. With credibility, we found no significant effect of attention division. Without credibility, the effect was larger with divided than full attention, especially in the second list of statements.
