Abstract

We examined coping and optimism as predictors of suicide risk and resilience in young adults. Regression analyses indicated that coping accounted for both risk and resilience. Importantly, the inclusion of optimism accounted for significant additional variance. Overall, our findings point to the importance of coping and optimism for understanding suicide.
