Abstract

We investigated variance in men and women’s leadership aspirations before and after the 2016 US Presidential Election. Unexpectedly, men and women’s aspirations were similarly affected by the result. Female Clinton supporters displayed reactance to her loss by increasing their leadership aspirations, after an initial drop the day after the election.
