Abstract

Psychological autopsy procedures (collateral informants and record reviews) examined 63 opiate users who died by suicide, accident, or natural causes. Suicides showed higher suicidal planning. Accidents had more opiate use disorders and prior overdoses than other groups. Suicides and accidents did not differ by number of suicide attempts.
