Abstract
We investigated intergroup contact’s cognitively liberalizing function by testing it’s association with socio-cognitive skills and group-based ideologies among a majority (Turks) and minority (Kurds) status group. High quality cross-group frienships were directly and indirectly related to both ethnocentrism and SDO, as well as perspective-taking and cognitive flexibility among both groups.
