Abstract

The current study provides evidence that religious beliefs can influence intertemporal choices. Specifically, we found that Muslims, Catholics and atheists differ in the extent to which they discount future rewards, and that this trend is shaped by the implicit level of religiosity, as measured by an Implicit Association Task (IAT).
