From Individuation to Stereotyping: How Episodic Memories of Individuals Lead to the Creation of Semantic Knowledge of Groups

Abstract
We investigate the relationship between episodic and semantic memory in stereotype formation, and the effects of group size and similarity, using a variation of an illusory correlation design. Findings suggest generalisation of group information occurs even with low group similarity, and overall information retention is higher in more similar groups.
