Abstract

This study examined whether placing cotton rolls in the mouth to measure salivation interferes with eating simulations when exposed to attractive food. Cotton rolls indeed reduced eating simulations, but only slightly reduced desire and salivation compared to a condition without cotton rolls. We discuss theoretical and methodological implications.
