How Does a Threatening Stimulus Affect the Memory of the Display?

Abstract

The results of four experiments revealed that, regardless of attentional requirements, overall visual memory is enhanced when more threatening items are presented in the display. However, the elevated memory of a threatening image does not come at the expense of the memory of an image presented nearby.
