Abstract

This study explores children’s (N=107, age 5 to 11) reasoning about continuous causal processes, as encountered in primary school science. Results show early ability and significant developmental increase in such reasoning. The ability to analyze a sequence of spatial-temporal changes is the most robust predictor, followed by nonverbal intelligence.
