Abstract

This interpretive phenomenological analysis of the experience of peer volunteers for a community crisis line dedicated to teens reveals an emerging theory that adolescents engaged in reciprocal relationships outside established social groups experience increased understanding and empathy for others, cognitive and social development, and personal fulfillment.
