Abstract

Couples in Japan (N = 200) and the US (N = 272) reported marital argument coping styles and reported their self-esteem and blessed self-feelings. Fit-focused secondary control predicted self-esteem and blessed self-feelings in both countries. Social assurance predicted lower self-esteem for US couples but higher blessed self-feelings for Japanese couples.
