Long-Term Impact of Childhood Trauma on Male and Female Partners: An Examination of Single- and Dual-Trauma Couples Seeking Couple Therapy

Abstract

This empirical study examined the long-term impact of childhood trauma in the couple context. Results indicated that single- and dual-trauma relationship contexts had a different influence on males and females. Females suffered from more severe and extensive consequences with the presence of trauma even when they had not experienced trauma.
