Abstract

Couples in Japan (N = 200) and the US (N = 272) reported their actions during arguments and uplifts. Fit-focused secondary control (accepting the situation and adjusting oneself) was rated higher than primary control in both settings. FFSC predicted feelings of efficacy and closeness, while primary control mainly predicted efficacy.
