Abstract

Nostalgia increases a sense of connection with others, meaning in life, and optimism in people with dementia. Using a nostalgia-based reminiscence therapy (NBRT) we have shown that NBRT has the potential to reduce levels of distress, thereby showing it to be effective in helping to manage the symptoms of dementia.
