Abstract

This study investigated the knowledge Japanese education superintendents require to perform their duties. A questionnaire was administered in 2012 (n=888) and 2017 (n=875) to Japanese superintendents. A factor analysis showed superintendents' perception of the need for knowledge about educational policy was high, while that of public administrators was relatively low.
