Abstract

Displaying Resistance to Persuasion seems to convey a negative image of oneself (study 1, self-presentation paradigm, N = 106). Targets displaying high resistance were seen as less warm but more competent than targets displaying low resistance (studies 2 and 3, judgment tasks, N = 189 and N = 219).
