Why Women Don’t “Lean in” to Leadership Positions

Abstract
Five studies examine interpersonal power in women’s desire to pursue leadership. Increased perceptions of power predict women’s desires to pursue leadership positions (Studies 1-3). Gender composition moderates this effect, such that women – not men – anticipate having less power in domains dominated by the opposite gender (Studies 4-5).
