Abstract
We tested whether the strategy of cognitive control used, reactive or proactive, is associated with fluid intelligence (fIQ). Children with higher fIQ scores show a more proactive strategy, as shown in the pattern of performance of the AX–CPT task, and ERPs indices of increased preparation and cost inhibition.
