What Is Being Composed in the Composite Face Effect? Insights from Distributional Analyses

Abstract

Composite faces fuse the top half of one face with the bottom half of another to inflict a strong illusion of a novel face on viewers. The current study reveals the statistical properties of the effect by analyzing the entire correct and incorrect RT distributions of the effect.
