Abstract
Overcoming conflict between internal motivations and external information is effortful. Our work shows that value-based decisions can be biased by irrelevant external information, as the subjective cost of conflict is traded off against expected rewards. Moreover, different types of conflict can have different effects on learning about action outcomes.
