Abstract

To previous literature that classified superstitions into positive (inviting good luck) and negative (avoiding bad luck) beliefs, we suggest another thematic classification – between active (necessitate active rituals) and passive (not involving active rituals) beliefs. 201 participants reported level of doing and believing superstitions. Multidimensional scaling confirmed the suggested classification.
