Why Do We Ostracize a Group Member? : The Effect of Cooperation and Conformity

Abstract

This research a questionnaire study examining whether cooperative individuals would support ostracizing a selfish individual. The questionnaire was completed by 550 undergraduates. The results show that the cooperative tendency didn’t explain the willingness to exclude a selfish member, but conformity tendency did.
