Abstract

Older couples in Japan (N = 200) and the US (N = 272) reported conflict strategies. “Discussion until agreement” was more frequent in the US (68% vs.18%) but predicted marital satisfaction in both countries. Satisfaction correlated with “wife accommodates to husband” in Japan but “wife persuades husband” in the US.
