Abstract

Americans tend to underestimate wealth inequality, but how do individuals estimate changes in wealth inequality over time? A series of experiments were conducted to examine these estimations. Despite underestimation of inequality overall, the results demonstrate that there is a tendency to overestimate increases in inequality when compared to actual trends.
