Abstract

Measures of executive functions (thinking abilities), understanding of patterns, early mathematics, and early literacy (letter-sound knowledge) were administered to 187 kindergartners (5-year-olds) from economically disadvantaged and immigrant families. The executive functions were related to each other and to understanding patterns. Early mathematics and literacy were related to all of these
